Loss Analysis & Recovery System (LARS)A unique application of the ElectSolve MDM is Loss Analysis Reporting System (LARS). LARS provides a comprehensive view of line loss by systematically reconciling wholesale power purchase records with power purchase sales down to the substation and individual feeder circuit. This allows the utility to pinpoint where losses are occurring and where operational corrections can be made to recover revenue and increase the efficiency of the distribution network. LARS is a Software Suite of applications that utilizes data stored in the MDM data repository to analyze data from a variety of utility systems and data sources. LARS uses a comprehensive and tactical methodology and proprietary algorithms to report problem areas, pinpointing where operationally, corrections can be made to reduce system line losses and recover revenue. Emphasis is on data analysis, which explains geographically, where losses are and how they are distributed. LARS is able to accurately reconcile Wholesale Kwh purchases to Retail Kwh sales using a wide variety of data sources available to it from many different utility operations systems and platforms within the typical utility. This reporting enables the utility to rank line losses by highest loss substations to lowest loss substation and within each substation, rank the highest loss feeders to the lowest loss feeders. LARS provides utilities a platform to:
LARS provides accurate “before and after” analysis of distribution system losses by substation & feeder in order to provide management with a loss reduction strategy that enables faster revenue recovery and recognition of increased efficiencies. The result is a complete picture of system losses incorporating all available data sources within the utility. Loss Analysis Reporting System (LARS) System will help achieve the following:
